Submitting Work ElectronicallyWhen submitting work to Keele for assessment you should in the first instance follow the guidelines set out by the module author for the submission of your work. If you are using StarOffice or OpenOffice and you haven't been explicitly told that this file format can be used, then you should use the PDF export icon to generate a PDF file for submission, as most Keele staff will not be able to read StarOffice or OpenOffice documents in their default formats. There is a movie of the submission process available here. Assignment Submission Demonstration Using TurnitinIndividual uploads to Turnitin must not have a file size of more than 10M. This has happened when students include images in documents. It is possible to compress the images before saving the file. In Word 2003, once the images are inserted and before saving the file, click on an image and the image editing tool bar appears. Click the icon for compressing pictures, choose all pictures, choose the lowest resolution (for the web/screen), choose delete cropped areas and choose compress pictures. Then OK. The file size is dramatically reduced. An alternative is to save a second version of the file with the images removed and submit this to Turnitin. Turnitin ignores images anyway for plagiarism detection. |
